Why is water so important?

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

Why do I need to drink water?

Our bodies do 2 main things:

1. It makes energy

2. It detoxifies.

The Healthy cell is doing both, the unhealthy cell is having a hard time doing both

Water is essential for the life and function of every cell.

It has an excellent ability to dissolve many substances which allows the cells to utilise valuable nutrients, minerals, and chemicals in biological processes.

Water:

  • Regulates internal body temperature through improved homeostasis and heat dissipation

  • Assists the flushing of waste through urination to rid the body of toxins

  • Acts as a shock absorber for the brain, preventing damage or injury through head impact & collisions

  • Helps lubricate our joints for improved movement and function

Tips For Staying Hydrated

  • Keep a container of water with you or on your desk throughout the day.

  • Drink a glass or two of water when you feel hungry.

  • Pump up your water intake when you’re exercising.

  • Include a glass of water with all meals and snacks.

  • Add fruit and vegetable juice, or herbal teas to your routine.

  • Avoid excessive caffeine. More than a couple cups of coffee a day can actually contribute to dehydration.

  • Increase your fruit and vegetable intake.

Water Can Be Delicious

Add some slices of oranges, lemons, cucumbers, or herbs such as mint to a glass of ice water. You’ll add flavor and nutrients without adding many calories. You can also brew regular or herbal teas and serve over ice. Delicious!
